My Experience with the IT Community - 1

I am a member of IT Forum, iLearn, and Kim’s Ventures in Educational Technology. Thus far, IT Forum and iLearn have been the most active blogs. I have already obtained many wonderful resources and ideas from iLearn. The iLearn blog always contains links to websites featuring interactive technologies as well as ideas for how to integrate the technologies into the classroom. Most of these technologies have fit well into the elementary school realm, which has been beneficial for me since I teach 2nd grade. Through the iLearn blog, I have been exposed to websites for my whole class, websites that will present challenges and enriching activities for my higher achieving students, and websites that will be of great benefit to my students who are struggling readers. One of the most exciting things I have discovered through reading the iLearn blog is a website geared specifically toward students with autism (www.whizkidsgames.com). I have a student with autism this year, and I am constantly looking for resources that will be of benefit to her. IT Forum has approximately the same level of activity as iLearn. However, the postings thus far have not been as useful to me as those featured on iLearn. Kim’s Ventures in Educational Technology has only created one post since I joined, so I have yet to develop an opinion regarding the worth of the blog.
